Training DevDroid operators

Operators of the Fire Support Group of the special unit of the GUR MO “Revansh” testing the new reconnaissance and strike ground robotic complex Droid TW 12.7. We discussed the specifics of its use in combat conditions, noted all the advantages of using it for our work, and directly carried out control.

How is
operator training carried out?
01/ Introductory training

At the beginning, the fighters undergo a short briefing from DevDroid instructors.
They are explained how the Droid TW-7.62 system works, which modules are installed, what each element is responsible for, and what limitations the robotic platform has.

Operators study the control logic, system interface, safety requirements, and basic principles of “human <-> robot” operation.

This is a quick but important introduction that allows you to immediately move on to practice.

02/ Practice on a real platform

The main part of the course involves working with a real UGV, without simulators or staged scenarios. The training lasts 7–10 days, during which military personnel practice:

Platform control: movement, maneuvering, stability, and response to terrain.
Working with optics and thermal imagers: target acquisition, focusing, day and night operations.
Aiming and engagement: from electronic firing to selecting the targeting mode.
Scenario-based training: reconnaissance, surveillance, threat detection, operating under pressure, real-world field conditions.

03/ Work with DevDroid instructors

Instructors accompany the fighters during each stage: correcting errors, suggesting correct actions, explaining tactics for using the platform on the battlefield. Based on observations, they form personal recommendations: control mode, operating distances, optimal scenarios for using the NRC. This allows the operator not just to “press buttons”, but to really understand the robot’s capabilities and use them effectively.

04/ Operator Certification

Wolly 7.62 is a modern remotely controlled combat module designed to perform combat and reconnaissance missions in difficult conditions, ensuring high accuracy of target engagement and protection of personnel. Thanks to innovative technologies and versatility, Wolly is one of the key solutions for increasing the effectiveness of defense operations. The Wolly 7.62 combat module is equipped with a remote control system that allows the operator to control the weapon from a safe distance.
